Jena & Justinn | An Inspired Vintage Wedding

Jena & Justinn are irresistably attractive people – inside and out. I write this knowing instinctually that they will both cringe a little when they read my words because in addition to being beautiful souls with great eyes they are exceedingly humble. And the camera loves humble people who’ve made design choices based on emotion and the love of all things timeless. I’ve photographed quite a few of what I considered to be vintage-inspired weddings, but Jena and Justinn’s wedding struck me as less vintage-inspired and more equal parts vintage and inspired. Southerners have a phrase when something particular about a person is unavoidable or easily explained by heritage or association with close family members: she comes by it honestly. I imagine that Jena comes by her affinity for vintage clothes and glassware, jewelry and style honestly because not only did her mother make her dress and veil, but her mother wore a vintage dress found on Etsy. Not only was the cake a classic, white piped delicacy, her grandfather made and decorated it. The aisle pomanders, programs and milk glass centerpieces sang a sweet vintage tune and all involved the hands and efforts of countless family members. If you aren’t convinced yet, consider this: Jena & Justinn opened the dancing to a song played by family members on sax, trombone, guitar and tambourine. So yes, Jena and Justinn are not only inspired by their families but they are pretty inspiring to those around them, too. I guess you could say they come by it honestly.

I was incredibly inspired by so many things at Jena and Justinn’s wedding – the light was magical, the style details were delightful, but most of all, the bride and groom both radiated emotion. Jena & Justinn – thank you for being so open and genuine and yes, there’s that word again…inspiring.
