Louie | Madison Wisconsin Newborn Photography

Libby and Mike were married out of doors with a threatening sky that never let loose its watery cargo. I photographed them saying I Do in a garden on the University campus in Madison, with those clouds providing perfect diffuse light and their families providing love, support and laughter to mark the day. Libby’s mom is a graphic designer and painter and she styled the papers and table centerpieces of Libby & Mike’s wedding with playful yet elegant, homey fabrics and patterns. Fast forward 3 or so years and I’m standing in Mike & Libby’s mid-century modern meets etsy home and I see those same patterns and fabrics. Their bed quilt is made from their wedding table runners and their wedding invite graces the TV table. Libby’s mom’s paintings cover huge swaths of plaster walls and in the middle of it all are Elvis and Millie – fur siblings – and their new human named Louie. Louie seems like a pretty easy going little guy and loves to hear his dad’s voice. He prefers being awake but couldn’t resist snoozing just a bit when wrapped in his mom’s arms or cuddled up with his bunny. Named for grandparents, Louie is the perfect little symbol for his parents’ love – the love they have for one another, yes, but also for the loving legacy of the family he’s been born into.
