Shay & Tom are a walking advertisement for on-line dating. Not only did they meet on Match.com, but so did numerous friends and family members who are recently married or soon to be husband and wife. How cool is that? I’ve had several recent couples meet through such a service and always find it to be a fascinating way to meet the love of your life and rather romantic, too. My hubby and I met on a cruise in the days before email was common (when we docked and said goodbye he asked if I had an email address and rather snottily I replied noooo, but I have a real mailbox.) So we forged our relationship through letter writing and I imagine starting a relationship online is not so different than that. Isn’t it the same sweet anonymity of writing and hoping that you a strike chord in the other person – heck, hoping they’ll strike a chord in you! –  the anticipation of waiting for a reply, putting it all out there in writing?

Shay & Tom are planning a Lake Geneva wedding for next year but he proposed at the Lincoln Park Zoo so we had to get some Chicago scenery into their engagement session. Most of the animals were sleepy or taking refuge from the summer heat but we strolled through the leafy loveliness that is LPZ and found animal onlookers everywhere before heading over to the lake to drink in the vast waterscape that Chicagoans like Shay & Tom are so lucky to have.

Shay told me during the session that her mom loves the Giraffes and Shay always sends her pics of the giraffes when she visits the zoo. The long-necked beauties had already headed inside and called it a day by the time we made our way to their habitat but here’s a link to my Giraffe work from Tanzania for Shay’s mom and Giraffe lovers everywhere.
