I once asked Brittany what she and John like to do together and she said well, John is an avid reader and writer, but we mostly spend our time together laughing like kids. Laughter and long walks and a few pints, it turns out, make for their perfect day. Brittany & John live on Milwaukee’s east side so that menu wasn’t too hard to come by as they invited me to spend an afternoon exploring some of their favorite places. They were engaged overlooking the lake at the end of Brady Street – John rightly opted for the down on one knee kind – and County Clare is their neighborhood pub. Even without such great, fun places to shoot, Brittany’s style and John’s soulful eyes made the session visually stunning for me and and their sweet, loving devotion to one another made me so excited to be a part of their upcoming winter wedding.

Brittany lost her dad and she wears his wedding ring on a simple string of pearls. The ring is substantial, probably just like her dad was to her. I like that his presence was felt during our session because I imagine he would cherish seeing how much John loves his daughter day-to-day, every hour, not just on their wedding day.
