Meg & Dan’s engagement session in Wicker Park was one of my recent favorites this season both because they are simply fun to be around, but also because of the challenge it presented; we started the session under cloudy skies and ended it under pouring rain. They treated me to what felt like a rather authentic peek into their lives to start with – a sweet good morning to their two tuxedo cats, a cup of coffee at their local shop, a stroll among warehouses and brownstones- and then Dan changed into a monogrammed cuff shirt and Meg pulled out the Jimmy Choos. How I love monograms and Jimmy Choos. Mongrammed and Jimmied we hiked up to their condo roof top to see the city, jogged through increasing raindrops to a park, pausing just for a moment under the El and then raced to the lake for a particular shot they both wanted to try.
Meg thinks she’s a little goofy and was quite nervous but these images don’t show either of those things. She’s beautiful and he’s handsome and together the camera loves them. Maybe that’s because the camera loves love and these two share a whole bunch of that.
This last photo is part of a series we did in the pouring rain – that umbrella is not a prop! – and it was definitely worth the race to the lake and our collective wet feet. Meg & Dan’s dedication to making art while making photos makes me so very excited for their tented backyard wedding reception next year. David Caruso and his team at Dynamic Events are doing the planning and design so I’m confident it will be elegant and lovely – just like Meg & Dan.
