Heidi & Mike have built a life in New York but the pull of home is strong when it comes to getting married. Back in January I traveled to NYC to photograph Heidi & Mike’s engagement session and learned that Mike had proposed to Heidi on top of the Empire State Building. So it seems oh-so-fitting that when they opted to have their July wedding in Milwaukee they brought a bit of the big city with them by hosting a portion of the day on a Milwaukee rooftop. The Milwaukee Athletic Club may be just a bit shorter than the Empire State Building but it offers some of the best vantage points from which to enjoy a beautiful view of Milwaukee; plus, it has cocktails. Ellen photographed this shy duo’s wedding day and I love how she captured the quiet and the raucous, each elegant in their own way. Between the two of us we’ve shot quite a few weddings at St. Jude’s in Wauwatosa. Each time the ceremony has been stunningly accompanied by the incredible voice of Grace Weber, an emerging talent from Milwaukee and a good friend of Heidi. Score another point for our fair city on the lake!
The MAC has a very particular palette of rose and cream that I adore and I think Heidi and Mike’s elegant, but understated style fit the club (and vice versa) perfectly. Heidi & Mike – happy life to you both. Cheers!
