Marco & Kristin are the kind of people who genuinely don’t realize why they are so cool and who blush when others remark on their easy good looks. (They are blushing right now, as they read this, in fact.) Kristin is tall and raven haired to match Marco’s Italian good looks and together they form one of the most humble couples I’ve ever met. Happy and successful in life and love, they inspire their friends and family to work hard and play hard, preferably with them and even better if involving drinking (or making) a good glass of wine paired with a delicious homemade meal. They love sports and their colleges (as evidenced by tying the knot on Marquette’s campus at Gesu and later celebrating with the Wisconsin Band and Bucky during their reception!) They love to dance alone at home for no particular reason or choreographed to a live band in front of all their wedding guests. They love, very simply, to be together.
Marco’s parents are restaurant-eers and his brother Piero is a vintner by training so a Bartolotta catered wedding was really the only option for them. The Grain Exchange then played elegant host to their reception and I adored the autumnal accents that playfully caught my eye at each table: real grapes and real apples amid candles and flowers plus tall glass candelabras. The Wisconsin band was a surprise for Marco and a hit for the guests, a loud cacophony of celebration and happiness that befitted the energy of the day, if not the style. Because style there was, from unique dresses for each bridesmaid to olive oils for every guest hand made and labeled by the family.
