Jordan & Joe are experts on long-distance love, which is odd since they both live in Milwaukee. As he travels 4 or 5 days a week – every week – for work, it often feels like they are long-distance dating so weekends are prized between the two of them. In the spirit of their favorite thing – let’s call it just being together – we did something every midwesterner loves to do, but seemingly rarely does – go to the beach.

Milwaukee is blessed with a long shoreline, almost entirely public and dotted with sandy beaches that are surprisingly quite swim-able. Atwater Beach sports wood-decked boardwalks and sweeping vistas of the shore marching north so we ventured out in the wind on a deliciously cool day in the middle of this summer’s heat wave. We extended our shoot with a meander in the streets and back alleys of Milwaukee’s Third Ward, a neighborhood that Jordan & Joe now call home. As these photos can attest, while Jordan and Joe may be experts on long-distance dating, they are even better at just being together at home, as well.
