Rachel & Simon live in Washington DC, but they hosted their gorgeous summer wedding back home in Wisconsin at one of Milwaukee’s classiest and unique venues – Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro. Ellen captured their day as it wound from the bright, light and airy atmosphere of Fox Point Lutheran to the green, tented, lusciousness that is the Bistro. At times they embraced tradition and at others they bucked convention just a bit. Their brunch reception was bookended by cocktails on the veranda to start and lawn games by the dancing tent at the end. Rain drops fell here and there, with water beading up on bocce balls and croquet mallets, but that only served to make the world sparkle just a bit more. Raw and rustic touches like succulents in mercury glass and rough spun linen contrasted with the easy elegance of bright flowers and dresses paired with colorful belts. It was different and unexpected and at the same time totally what friends and family expect of Rachel & Simon – breezy and beautiful, light hearted and sincere. Totally Rachel & Simon.
