A year ago I woke up on September 22nd feeling great – like I could get everything on my list done that day plus have time to go get ice cream, take some friends takeout to celebrate their new baby boy and watch Survivor at Grandma’s house. Instead, my husband and I welcomed our baby girl Wren Elizabeth into the world. It is cliche to say but I’ll go ahead and say it: so much has changed in a year – for us, for her, for our cat.
Wren is a tiny human who loves to smile and walk and point, who asks us “what’s that” about a million times a day. Her first word was cat and she can now say other words that describe her favorite things – puppy, duck, dad – and what she can’t say she seems to understand. She smiles at strangers, adores her shoes, prefers to eat with a spoon and she’s running for President.
We’ve discussed her platform at length and I’m proud to endorse her as the bi-partisan, all-American candidate for people who believe we should all just get along. She’s not from a blue or red state, but considers herself a purple state uniter. She won’t stand for sitting and she’s #1 in 2012. Enjoy these photos from her 1st birthday rally this past weekend and remember: with Wren it’s Flying Cars Guaranteed!
Wren’s 1st birthday rally would not have been possible without the amazing talents of a number of people I am pleased to call colleagues and friends. Amanda at Tailored Engagements stepped outside her wedding specialty to make my vision come to life and Tara at Cracked Designs designed all of Wren’s perfect logos and invites. My mom occupied my little munchkin all weekend so I could shoot a wedding and finalize the party details (thanks mom!) and my mother-in-law created a delicious apple pie birthday cake for Wren to poke, nibble and ultimately spoon into her mouth. I also debuted a beta version of my new photobooth in a pint-sized version specifically for kid’s parties. Here’s a taste of a AMUSEbooth:
