Shauna & Matt | Midwest Apple Orchard Wedding Under A Blue Moon

Shauna & Matt were married at her father’s farm, on the back porch in the presence of 3 or 4 dozen of their favorite people, plus Daisy and Jimmy, the farm dog and cat. Everything they did to prepare for the day was done with care and thought and in a spirit of intimacy I am still in awe of witnessing. They chose the wedding day based on the full moon schedule and were delighted to host their wedding on not just a full moon, but a Blue Moon – a somewhat rarer type of full moon that only happens every 2 or 3 years. They wanted their day not just to feel authentic and handmade but for it to be so, so Shauna hand stamped their invites on vintage handkerchiefs and they mailed them beautifully to a very small group of people whom they couldn’t imagine not having around them when they said I Do. Between the squeaky back porch screen door and the vegetable garden Shauna and Matt shared vows they wrote themselves, exchanged rings they forged themselves – literally – and guests were invited to meander the property and enjoy a toast. Hand cut flowers from the gardens dotted long tables set under apples trees strung with twinkle lights and food cooked by a local chef and catering company was cooked in the farm kitchen. First dances were accompanied by Matt singing to Shauna and then by a two piece jazz band, perched close to the house for all to see and hear. The moon rose high and full and yes, blue, and Shauna and Matt melted into each other over and over again. Married, bonded – perhaps it would be right to say forged – into one.
