Katie & Ben have a history together that spans practically the entire midwest and enough years to make such a geographic spread possible. They met in college at Notre Dame and in many ways call the University home. He’s from Buffalo, New York and Katie from Wisconsin and their adorable, totally personalized welcome bags greeted hotel guests with treats and sweets from all over the map of their life together. I loved how they mixed elegant with homey throughout the day – always relying on good taste in the end, literally and figuratively. Katie has a breezy fashion sense that her sister Sarah (who’s wedding I happily photographed a few years ago) funnily described as hoodie-centric, but one would never have know that on her wedding day. In the clean, elegant lines of Kate Spade and Augusta Jones, Katie met her husband to be at the altar of Old St. Mary’s downtown and they celebrated their new status as Mr. and Mrs. at Blue Mound Country Club. Guests were treated to an elongated sunlit cocktail hour on the club’s gorgeous verandas and while the dinners served were delicious the toasts heard throughout the night were funny, endearing, incredibly sweet and totally from the heart.
