Laura & Ben’s lakeside wedding day was departure from their everyday lives in New York, but part of a sweet look back at Laura’s childhood summers spent on Lake Delavan with family. The fact that they chose to travel back to her home state – and more importantly, to the lakeside resort where her parents celebrated anniversaries and played host to her splishing and splashing as a kid – said a lot to me about how much these two value family. Laura’s mom handmade most of the bits and baubles that decorated the reception and Ben’s daughter Cosette was an integral part of each moment through the wedding. Cosette’s family got bigger on this June day and I could tell she was thrilled with the new addition that is Laura. Laura sweetly remembered her grandmother on her wedding day by treating each guest to a tiny version of her grandmother’s favorite Dusty Miller plant and Laura’s mom literally made ever.single.sweet thing at the wedding – cakes, chocolates, candies galore. Other family and many, many friends made the trip to the lake into a vacation and that easy, breezy vibe accented everything Ben & Laura did from letting the wind blow in their hair, to relaxing with a cocktail by the water to dancing the night away with their favorite people in the world.
