A lot of guys come up with great plans for asking the love of their life to marry them and I am lucky enough to get to hear many of those stories. But being there in person when he actually gets down on one knee and slips a velvety black ring box from his pocket is an all together magical moment. I got to experience a bit of that magic this past week when John asked Sarah to be his forever. She was shocked and giddy and totally happy and said yes, of course. I got the feeling he could have done it anywhere, anytime with any ring, but he managed to do it in the perfect place, the perfect way with the perfect ring for Sarah. His proposal location was a bit of a jest at the fact he and Sarah have never been to the movies together so he knew it would surprise her to see the big question up on the gorgeous marquee at the Oriental, not to mention the fact that he figured correctly that the peachy light of sunset would combine magically with the Oriental’s architecture. And there’s that word again – magic. I guess I believe love is a bit magical; I believe that finding your soul mate in this big crazy world simply must take a bit of magic and faith and hope – I’m happy to have shared in John & Sarah’s magical moment and that because John invited me to be there you get to be there in a way, too.
