Rohan Noah was born into the world a lucky little boy. His mama, daddy & big sister were thrilled to welcome him into their lives and home and story – a story already well-written and lovely to live, but made unexpectedly better by his tiny presence. Rohan’s big sister Sahana is the same age as my daughter and his parents took a turn living in the south where I’m from long before they dreamed of having two children in Wisconsin. I’ve watched them grow from behind my camera, but also as a neighbor and a mom and a friend. From belly to baby Sahana and back again to belly and baby Rohan, this family of 4 has been an honor to photograph during some of the most emotional times of their lives. Of all the ones we’ve shot I love the raw simplicity of this set of photos – everything from Rohan’s tiny smiles and still-smooth newborn skin to Sahana waking up with her crazy wonderful curly hair. I love the captured moments between different combinations of the 4 of them, how each image shows warmth and love and a little bit of the unknown.
