Abby & Dillon’s wedding day marked the end of summer and the beginning of fall here in Milwaukee with sensual sunlight filtering through the trees and the last days of green grass and leaves leaving an impression on everyone’s memory. I love the part of the day where my couples open their gifts to one another and was one of many admirers in the room for the moment when Abby realized that Dillon had had stationary made – yes, made – for writing his love letter to her. It didn’t hurt that it came with a Tiffany box, of course, but I saw the amazement in Abby’s eyes as she took in the custom logo on her letter. His eyes later echoed the same amazement as he watched her walk towards him under the storied Pabst Theater awnings for their first look. From there they traveled through their day, thrilled to spend time in the sunshine, in one another’s arms, hand in hand with best friends and shoulder to shoulder with siblings. Their reception, and really the whole day, was truly heartfelt and sincere and personal to them – and a joy to photograph. Cheers to love and cheers to these kinds of days that remind us why we love weddings.
