Katie & Alex are classic high school sweethearts who’ve taken a somewhat untraditional – or maybe a very traditional? – route to finding their careers and path in life. They both went into the military after high school and work in the medical field now, each with a quiet confidence and contentedness that seems well beyond their years. They’ll be celebrating their wedding next year under the elegant barrel vault of The Wisconsin Club’s grand ballroom – a place infused with gilded stylishness and again, quiet elegance, that totally fits their personalities – but for their engagement session we played off of their mutual love of sweaters and fresh air, walks outside and apple orchards. Who doesn’t love an apple orchard, anyway? But Katie & Alex capitalized on the opportunity to relax together in a way I think we can all envy – with picnic blanket and breakfast delights in tow. We were surprised to find a thick fog was nestled over the orchard when we started shooting but as they day warmed and the sun grew brighter we were treated to other lovely encounters at Barthel’s Fruit Farm (who was so kind to let us have our roam of the farm,) including bee hives, gourd and pumpkin fields, fresh pears and a sweet dog named Pippen.
