Kate & Steve were married on a November day that threatened cold but delivered crisp skies and bouts of sunshine. It also delivered great laughter and love and friendship, the soft earthy smell of lavender and the swelling voices of a gospel choir. It seemed to me that they each stepped out of their own comfort zones just a little bit so as to invite everyone into their world and the results were lovely and loving.
Kate started the day in a gorgeous birdcage veil and met Steve at the altar of St. Hedwig’s, a vibrant and light-filled catholic church made even more so by the presence of a loud and rowdy gospel choir that turned the traditional catholic ceremony into something else entirely wonderful. After exiting the cream city brick church through a shower of lavender blooms they met their fur baby Crosby at the lakefront and strolled the streets of one of their favorite and familiar neighborhoods – the Third Ward. Finally, they toasted and cheered and danced the night away among the regal chandeliers of the Milwaukee Athletic Club. In the end the day (and night) struck us as a vivid mixture of their two personalities and all their favorite things, which is exactly how every wedding should be.
