Ella Victoria was born into an amazing family I am blessed to count among my own ‘chosen’ family, so to speak. Ella’s mom and I grew up together in Georgia while here in Wisconsin Ella’s dad and my husband grew up together. And now we are all raising little girls together. So on a rare Thursday when we were enjoying some version of maternity/paternity leave we gathered to celebrate and relax into parenthood. Again. Together.
These photos were taken over the course of several hours as the winter sun set and cozy lamps at Ella’s house took over the task of lighting our night. We started the day hanging out as a group, enjoying the laughter of our older girls as they chased and romped and tickled their way through the afternoon and ended the evening with sleepy babes wrapped up next to the Christmas tree. Between bouts of sleep and fussiness, eating and staring at bright lights I snapped images of Ella and her surroundings, of her with her proud big sister and her mama. She may have been born on a cold day close to Thanksgiving and with the feeling of Christmas in the air, but her life is and will always be warmth and sunshine and love.
