Colleen & Jake met in Michigan, got married in Wisconsin and live in Maryland; along the way they found me and I’m so happy they did. Their style is simple and clean with no shortage of fun and wedding days as sweet and carefree as theirs are why I’m more than ok spending my Saturdays with other people’s families. Their lakeside engagement session clued me into their laid back, confident approach to living life so I was not even a little surprised when they played an impromptu pickup game of sand (yes, sand) volleyball on their wedding day, dazzled guests with multiple tasty cakes at their reception, exuded warmth and intensity with one another all day and simply smiled and laughed at their crazy groomsmen enjoying a few, um, quickly consumed beers by the lake. Wedding days go quickly and I always hope my couples get the chance to really feel and appreciate the awesomeness of their vows, the gathering of friends and the well wishes that inevitably surround them all day. I knew from the moment I saw Colleen & Jake on their wedding day that they were already there; as individuals and, especially as a couple, they were so very aware of how much love and hope was surrounding them that all they could do was smile, breathe deeply and I imagine think something along the lines of thank you – we will make your wishes for us come true as we live a life worth celebrating.
