Jackie & Ben | Door County Wedding Photographer | A Northwoods Wedding

Many people in the midwest vacation in Wisconsin’s Door County, a magical little peninsula with wineries and lighthouses, cabins and camps, state parks, beautiful bays, cherry orchards and tiny towns, scandinavian charm and best of all, the persistent feeling of Vacation. Ben & Jackie are a rare breed, though, year round residents on the peninsula who are building lives and ties to the communities that support tourists and locals alike. And for their wedding they couldn’t imagine doing it any where else in the world except for here, close to the water, close to the spaces and places that make up Home. On a warm July weekend they made their oft imagined wedding come to reality, inviting friends and family to join in a northwoods fest that felt quite a lot like going back to camp – except with great food, live music, gorgeous flowers and lots of little romantic details. Jackie is a florist (check our her lovely website) and flowers were an incredibly important part of her vision for the day and I adored how petite blooms made a big impact at every turn, pairing with a little mod/vintage flair to keep all things Camp a little feminine, too. The flowers were the big visual but other personalized touches made Ben & Jackie’s wedding weekend memorable – homemade cherry muffins to say welcome at the hotels and cabins, Ben wearing his grandfathers’ watch and cufflinks, little Gracie the flower girl in Ben’s mom’s childhood dress and Jackie collecting hundreds of tiny glass vases for the flowers. But the best part of the weekend – the absolute best part – was seeing how In Love these two are. Ben simply adores Jackie and Jackie adores Ben. During their ceremony their eyes were so easy to read. Written there for all to see was the fact that they are happy and grateful and simply amazed to get to be married.
