The first thing Carla & Danny’s friends tend to ask them these days is where are you right now? and that’s because recent history has taught their loved ones that the answer is pretty much always changing. She’s on a law path and he’s in medicine so their work lives have had or will have them in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois and not always at the same time. Just trying to describe it is a little bit tiring to me so I can only imagine what it’s like for them. What isn’t hard to imagine at all, however, is the thing that doesn’t change for them no matter their respective addresses – she is his and he is hers.

For their engagement session we were lucky enough to find them back in Carla’s hometown together for a few days and happily close to the beautiful gardens at Boerner. We met on a sunny fall morning and strolled on the paths, getting to know one another and talking about how they were going to work out living in Chicago but working in Wisconsin (for Carla) and how (another) move for both of them was in the works. From there we ventured to their first date site downtown in Bay View and all I could do was marvel at how easy their relationship feels. But that is how it is when two people are meant to be – no matter the logistics, the miles or the space in between, when its right, its very, very easy.
