Looking back at Lauren & Brian’s wedding day makes me feel warm and happy and like I need to get some girl friends together to go dancing. It was that kind of day – heartfelt and intimate, beautiful and simple but somehow over-the-top gorgeous all at the same time. It was about laughing and dancing and going for a walk in Milwaukee’s prettiest gardens with your favorite person in the world; about looking and feeling handsome, loved and special, and really about feeling giddy with happiness but also calm with promise. They started their day apart in rooms at the new Marriott but soon met under the delicate arches of Villa Terrace and from there they were blessed to spend the day in total bliss. Brian’s family is active in the German community in Milwaukee and their wedding coincided with GermanFest, a fact not lost on the family and guests of German heritage, but also enjoyed by all as the GermanFest air show and fireworks entertained those present throughout the day and night. The crowd came ready to dance and dance they did, but first they were treated to a day of sweet treats – witnessing Brian and Lauren’s I Dos under the soaring wings of Windhover Hall, enjoying cocktails by the lake and finally capping off a delicious dinner with Kopps custard and La Reve macaroons before fireworks and dancing. Not a bad way to spend a summer day, yes? And, as the days turn cool here in the upper midwest I imagine I’ll return to this post over and over again for a dose of sunshine and warmth. Enjoy ~
