Sarah & John | Marquette & Wisconsin Club Wedding Photographer

John is a big surprises kind of guy; He’s thoughtful and fun and his favorite thing in the world is to make Sarah smile. Sarah is more planned and studious and generally very put together, but JJ gets to her and makes her feel a little more free, like anything is possible. I was there when he asked her to marry him, with a big ole sign on an iconic movie theater marquee downtown asking will you marry me? She was floored and amazed and couldn’t believe that he had managed to surprise her. And on their wedding day 14 months later she turned the tables and became the big surprises kind of girl. The same Oriental Theater marquee was set up for him and he had no idea until she led him off the Wisconsin Club shuttle into the warm September sun and pointed. He laughed and wrapped her up and he was even more amazed at her than ever, a seemingly impossible thing because to him Sarah is always amazing. Their day was light hearted and easy and incredibly go with the flow, no easy task considering the size of their wedding party and the giddy happiness that was all around. I loved the locations they picked for everything – John is a Marquette alum and St Joan of Arc chapel made the perfect backdrop for Sarah’s girls – all dressed in shades of oyster, bone and taupe and organized by affiliation like friend or family (I told you she was organized!) The church is just across the street from the Wisconsin Club and I adored its friendly attitude clothed in great light and beautiful old world architecture. And then there is the Club, always beautiful and always elegant, Sarah & JJ picked the perfect place for them to start and end their wedding day, a day I know they can’t wait to relive in photos ~
