Baby Charlie is a sweet, sleepy darling lucky enough to have more arms ready and willing to snuggle him than your average newborn. There are the arms of his mom and dad, of course, but also of his extremely gentle and proud older brother Henry along with all the furry limbs of Rhea and Lola, two of the gentlest dogs I’ve ever met. Just over 2 years ago I photographed his family when Henry was a newborn himself and I was impressed then, as I am now, by how much a baby can be loved even when they’ve only spent just a few days in the world of their parents. Charlie arrived well before his due date and spent a bit of time in the NICU developing his lungs and it turns out that these photographs were made right around the time he would have been 39 weeks in utero. He had his own timetable, I suppose, and in the end that’s alright – he has 10 little fingers and 10 little toes and a superhero big brother to show him the ropes.
