Jessie & Austin live in Chicago’s Wicker Park – two lawyers who met in law school making the most of one of the city’s most coveted neighborhoods. They love their Big Star and Dove’s and Stan’s plus a slew of other local eateries and hangouts that make Chicago feel like their own little corner of the world. I met them in their world on an out-of-the-ordinary morning when Canadian wildfires were causing the sun to make the lake sparkle orange and the sky to cloud the tiniest bit pink. Between discussing where to get bloodies and treats they adorably waffled back and forth between that great place with outdoor seating and that tasty spot with good views, all the while winding me through the neighborhood’s eponymous park and and gritty-but-gorgeous urban landscape. I loved watching them collapse into one another in laughter, offer each other messy donut bites, and catch each other’s eye despite the alternate view of Chicago’s skyline. Basically, they are totally in love – in love with the city and in love with each other. In love with being on the precipice of forever and at the same time enjoying each tiny moment of today.
