One of the things I love the most about photographing weddings is the gift of witnessing transformation – women become brides when they slip on the dress and guys become husbands when they slip on the ring, two people join each other’s families and perhaps most significantly, two people decide to make one another family on their wedding day. For Sarah and Dan the transformations included all of those and more. Two little boys have been a part of their relationship for many years now, 1 his and 1 theirs, and on their wedding day all the distinctive possessive pronouns ceased to make sense. From their wedding day forward they became simply each other’s. And that was the great gift of Sarah & Dan’s all around gorgeous wedding day; yes, the sun was perfect and the flowers to die for, the toasts were funny, personal and thoughtful, everyone had fun and the day was by all accounts a success, but the only thing that mattered- the only thing – is that a family chose to be a family that day, whole and happy to be one another’s.
