Kelly & Nick are the kind of people who attract friends and fun without really trying. They love the water and the sunset, docks and her dad’s classic car, their giant puppy Brawny and nights out with friends, but also nights in with a good bottle of wine. So I loved how their wedding day reflected all of that, plus a serious love of family and one another. They started in very different atmospheres, Kelly dressing at a hotel surrounded by her pretty friends in comfy robes and one adoring little mini Audrey Hepburn while Mr. Social himself, Nick donned a dapper suit and played pool with his guys at Billy Ho’s, a local VFW and favorite of his. They met by a small creek, her dress whipped by the wind and his eyes a bit teary, a sweet and private start to the best day of their lives. There was just one missing piece that day – Kelly’s dad passed some time ago – but I adored how much everyone included him in their own way. His beloved classic Rambler stood proudly beside the lake for Kelly and her family to touch and remember him and around her ankle Kelly wore a photo of her father so he, too could walk her down the aisle. So many things from getting ready to greek dancing the night away made me laugh and smile and cry and be thankful for my own family that all I can write is, it was an honor to be there with Nick and Kelly, to witness their love and the blending of his big greek family with her smaller one, to get to know them and to get to be a part of their world for a day.
