Some people grow up with the person they are supposed to marry; they are neighbors or high school sweet hearts, meet through mutual friends, or run in the same circles until one day they notice one another. And other people meet totally by chance, in such a way that I can’t help thinking but what if she had decided to do one thing differently – they would never be here today. Abbie and David have the latter kind of story. They met in Spain just days before she was to wrap up her studies there and come back to the States. But after meeting him she called home to tell mom and dad that she needed to stay – to stay! – for just a bit longer because she simply had to. And that is how some loves are: fierce and full and nearly instantaneous, even if you don’t realize it exactly. Fast forward a few years and it turns out that impulse was worth it as Abbie and David are building a life to love in New York and managing to maintain and grow friendships around the country and the world. On their wedding day in Milwaukee those friendships and kinships were on full display as guests gathered to celebrate the two of them with toasts, tears, hugs, and even soccer songs. The day felt intimate and inviting, homey but elegant, full of old world charm and new world optimism. They utilized the luxe spaces of the Villa Terrace in ways I found charming and utterly photogenic, which pretty much sums up the two of them, as well. It was, by all accounts, a perfect day for two people who deserved it.
