Lauren & Matt have a Marquette love story that starts out just about any story about them. They both played soccer at Marquette and both hold seriously dear memories of their days on campus – practicing, studying, winding down (or up?) at at the local bar and of making Milwaukee an indelible part of their lives. So now, even though they live in Chicago close to much of Lauren’s family, there was very little question as to where their wedding would be. And so on a perfect June day they entered the soaring nave of the Church of the Gesu’ on campus and they sealed their forever. They walked to Joan of Arc’s chapel and discovered it anew, happy to enjoy the gorgeous grounds of campus as the newest of newlyweds. And then they were surprised to find time in the schedule to join guests, teammates, family and oh-so-many friends at Caffrey’s where the girl in the moon encouraged them to toast and toast again. I loved how the playful, nostalgic bar gave them a chance to steep in all the awesomeness of their wedding day before they helped host their night at the Wisconsin Club. And really my big take away from their day was how formative and important place is. Milwaukee and Marquette are where it started for them and very likely where it will start over and over again for them as they attend reunions, friends’ weddings, future anniversary dinners in town and maybe more. Each time they step on campus they’ll remember not just their college years but the day weekend they became husband and wife.
