Erik & Whitney’s wedding was bright and beautiful, and fully conceived as a tribute to history and family and celebrating traditions, old and new. For the two of them the little things matter and they wanted their guests and families to really feel a part of their day, a part of their world, a part of their love story. So Whitney shared a “first look” with her dad on the front porch of the home where she grew up, just like she did as a child on her first communion. The boy she babysat growing up drove her to meet Erik where he waited with brothers and friends reminiscing about growing up together, as well. Erik’s Spanish speaking family was delighted to find table numbers in Spanish and a bilingual ceremony in parts. The cocktail hour entertainment included the game Apples to Apples which is what Erik & Whitney played on the evening they first met at a friend’s place in Chicago and since Dr. Seuss is a favorite part of teacher Whitney’s curriculum children’s books in both english and spanish filled their sign in table. Essentially, to be present at the wedding was to be a part of Whitney & Erik’s love story. And an epic love story it is filled with long distances, grad schools, multiple relocations and now, finally, the reality of being Mr. & Mrs, forever and ever.
