I remember when Jordan and Melissa got engaged and I nearly instantly said “well, I’m shooting your wedding.” Fortunately, they were game for that and on a perfect Milwaukee summer day in 2014 they tied the knot at the Milwaukee Athletic Club. That day was very much a family affair of sorts as my husband was in the bridal party and many of our mutual friends were, too. It was like photographing my own family reunion -if it was a reunion of my family-of-choice and fueled by a lot more laughter, old fashioneds and dance floor contests. And since then I’ve been a part of more of their milestones – but just as a friend – and I’ve loved seeing them grow into a new home, become parents and generally rock at life. So when they asked me to document there life today as their first daughter turns two and they prepare for the arrival of baby number two I was honored and rather giddy to give them more images of their beautiful life. We kept it simple and the spring flowers rewarded us with their blooms around the Root River parkway near their home and then we simply had to get some bubble time in for Addilyn. If you ask me, I think she’s ready to be a sister and surely everyone is ready to meet her sibling come September, but for right now I love how these days with just her feel special and fleeting and worth remembering.
