Alex & Brian are lovely, sweet, beautiful people – inside and out – but the thing that makes me like them the most is that they care deeply about memory making. No, they care deeply about experience and are in the moment enough to understand that every minute with the one you love has the capacity and the potential to become a memory to be savored. So when it came time to plan their wedding there was only place to consider – Brian’s summer home-away-from-home on Geneva Lake. For a generation or more his family has spent summers at a wonderfully rickety old resort that needs a coat of paint, but in all honesty would be diminished with the addition of anything new or luxurious. Time there is not about being posh, but rather its just about being together – simply and without the fluff and distraction of modern life. And on a summer Saturday next year they’ll tie the knot just down the shoreline, with Brian getting ready here at the same place he and Alex have shared countless campfires and boat rides. Alex likely won’t see Chippewa on that day so we knew their engagement session had to have them both there and in town, sharing sandy feet moments and making wishes on pennies, getting their toes wet and cuddling on the dock. I adore the imagery we created together at one of their favorite places in the world, but mostly I adore knowing that this kind of love lives in the world.
