My favorite kind of engagement session is one that features a couple’s home, or neighborhood, or really, just a place where they feel most like themselves. For Claire & Nick Lake Park is perhaps none of those things, but it is the place where they can best imagine their future. And that, my friends, may be my favorite new kind of engagement session. Nick proposed at Lake Park and they’ll celebrate their wedding at the well-loved Bistro on the north end of the park. We started close to “the spot” where an ordinary dinner turned into an extra-ordinary one but decided to reserve most of that area for their wedding day and instead explored a bit further afield where majestic lions and men on horseback compete with a gleaming lighthouse for the title of most picture perfect spot. We wrapped up with a glorious sunset along the lakefront, and while I know they were often wondering “are we doing this right?”, these images bring the biggest smile to my face. Claire & Nick could see the gorgeousness all around them but from my side of the camera I could see that the air of love and contentment and the feeling of happiness that makes these pictures so lovely starts with them. Picture perfect spots are great and all, but two people madly in love with their Now while dreaming about a Future together – that is what makes everything worth looking at. Cheers to Clair & Nick and their Lake Park love story.
