Lily at One Year | Greendale Family Photography

Young families are such a treasure to photograph in part because it is always an adventure. I love watching for the moment when mom & dad realize that its highly unlikely we’ll be able to make the kiddos smile at the same time (while looking at the camera) and instead they start to have fun. And just like that it happens. It turns out that picking flowers and playing with beloved toy cameras, tickles and goofy noises, exploring and just being together are the things that make kids smile…and parents smile…and even photographers smile. For Lily Mae, now in her birth month and soon to be 1 year old, its all of those things and the delicious taste of frozen treats that make for a fun afternoon with her beloved mom & dad + sister. The four of them together are simply delightful and so is Historic Greendale, a little planned community close to their home that has an honest-to-goodness Village Hall and Green, Main Street and perhaps best of all, Ferch’s Malt Shoppe. Lily’s mom used to go there as a kid and the same counter service & spinning stools are in service today, just waiting for the next generation of kids to come in and get a taste of the good stuff. Which makes me wonder which is the good stuff in this case: The ice cream or the love of an adoring family? Either way, on this day Lily had both and it was beautiful.
