Some people meet the love of their life close to home and everything works out rather organically as their families and friends are naturally intertwined by the luxury of familiarity. Katie & Eddie do not have a story like that. She is from the midwest and he’s from out east and their story starts at Georgetown. It winds through beloved family members in different states and degrees that sent them here and then there. It is filled with inflection points where they each had to choose a shared story, to choose the same path, to choose each other. Katie’s sister Sarah gave a lovely toast in their honor at the reception and in it she talked a lot about choice and how decision making for Katie involves a lot of input and feedback from family & friends, pros & cons lists – each decision she makes is sure to have been well and truly vetted. But the one thing that she has never needed input on is the sheer perfect-for-her-ness of Eddie. He’s kind and funny and fits in well with her golf-loving family. He’s big hearted like her and with her choreography skills and encouragement it turns out they can move like nobody’s business on the dance floor. They are each other’s best friend and the future is so very bright for them and their brand of happy optimism. These two need no advice from us as they have all they’ll ever need from their guests who were asked to write up sage words at the reception, but we’ll throw our two cents in anyway. Keep dancing and holding hands; keep each other close and most of all: choose each other every day.
