Newborn Rosie Hazel came home this October to a place oh-so-ready for her arrival. Her soft and sweet animal-loving nursery is the brightest room in the house, a space I imagine will become a haven for family dogs looking to stretch out and the family cat seeking a new chair to claim as a curl up spot. Rosie’s mom is a veterinarian so the choice of animal-themed decor didn’t surprise me, but I was totally impressed with the wonderfully redone DIY dresser her parents crafted for her. Between Rosie’s parents and me much of our chatter turned to hopes and dreams like getting Rosie on skis and up mountains. We talked of baby backpacks and strategies for getting back out into the wild where Megan and Clay have found so much of the world to love. But mostly, we stared at Rosie’s sweet cheeks and tiny toes, and allowed for a morning of calm, of puppy belly rubs and of newborn cuddles. So for now the wild can wait, Megan and Clay are content to hang with Rosie (and the pups & kitty) in this new place called Parenthood.
