Stephanie & Louis’ November wedding in Milwaukee was all kinds of elegant, but it was also steeped in romance and fall wonderment. We loved the way Stephanie & Louis weren’t afraid of color – from the something blue Badgley Mischka’s that Stephanie wore to the bright, peppy florals she carried, from the yellow-leaved tree branch centerpieces to the spots of rich blue that the bridal party sported so stylishly. But what we really loved is how Louis melted into Stephanie’s arms during their first look, how she lit up with smiles when she looked at him, how their friends in the bridal party clearly adored being a part of their wedding story. We really loved how so many things included in the design of the day weren’t things, but rather references and connections to their favorite people in the world. The iconic Pritzlaff clock in the reception space recalled Stephanie’s Zadie’s (dad’s dad) life work as a clock and watch fixer while their officiant was clearly a mentor to Stephanie and a friend to them both. A childhood friend blessed and cut the challah and even the hairpiece in Stephanie’s hair was once worn by her sister on her own wedding day. I guess you could say that what we really, really loved was that on a day filled with tradition and family, and in total celebration of what came before, Stephanie and Louis made something new – their own family – and vowed to honor it, protect it, and on this day: celebrate it.
