So much has changed and shifted in 2020. Not just wedding plans, and not just school days and workplace locales, but the fundamental way we all look at the world has changed, our perspectives on what is important has shifted and really, a lot has come into focus. For Kiley & Matt who are one of the lucky few who garnered a coveted UW-Madison Memorial Union wedding date for 2020, I suspect there have been a number of low moments when a lakeside summer wedding didn’t seem possible. But, I KNOW they were rewarded by taking a leap of faith to go forward on their original wedding date in the place that really matters to them with the people who helped make them who they are. On a brilliant summer day where the sky over Madison and the water that surrounds it competed for which could be bluer, Kiley & Matt married one another at St Paul’s. Surrounded by their joyful family they not only said I Do, but they took the sacrament of marriage to heart and became a family unto themselves. Although they’ll have to wait until next year for their celebration at the Memorial Union, they walked its steps and stood under its arches with their family and they made a memory or two by the lake. It was sweet and intimate and altogether a beautiful way to start a marriage.
