For Meg & Kyle certainty as a concept is quite familiar. They are planners and doers and all around go getters. So I’m sure that when they started dreaming of their Church of the Gesu’ ceremony & city reception they traveled pretty deeply into the details of what it would look and feel like for them and for their guests flying in from all over the country. But for Meg & Kyle, like so many couples in our lingering pandemic present, an expectation of certainty had to be laid aside sometime last fall. And then again this spring. But while some couples understandably remained tethered to a vision of their day and rescheduled, Meg & Kyle chose to tether themselves almost wholly just to each other. They would move the ceremony. They would move the reception. But they would not move the day they were to become spiritually, socially & legally bound to one another. And friends, it was glorious. On a classic midwestern spring day where the weather changed by the half hour, they dressed in joy surrounded by family & friends. They met at the altar of Meg’s childhood church and vowed to be one another’s for eternity. They toasted and danced and rolled through practically every emotion this side of sadness available to a human. They dipped and laughed and took everyone on the ride with them, inviting all present into their bubble of joy and love. So here’s a toast to a certain kind of certainty – the kind that says no matter what may try to get in the way: Today is the Day.
