Kelly & Paul | Chicago Lakefront Engagement Session

I know they say that people look like their pets and I’m not sure I’m on board with that. But, I can resolutely say that pets can tell us a lot about the people with whom they’ve found a home. And Forest, the mixed breed anxiety pup that he is, told me only good things about Kelly & Paul. They rescued him from a southern shelter and brought him home to Chicago. He lives in Lincoln Park now and pretty much only has eyes for them. Truth be told, Kelly & Paul weren’t sure if Forest would care for being a part of their engagement session because sometimes the sights and sounds of the city and all its new people are a bit overwhelming to him, but Forest showed off for me and decided licking Paul’s face in my presence was better than being scared. From there Forest went back home and we wandered on foot from their cozy tree-lined street to the wide open expanses of the city on the edge of Lake Michigan. They talked about the future, the parts they can see and the parts they can’t quite imagine yet. They impressed me as kind and caring people who value how they spend their time and the people (or animals) with whom they spend it. I am pretty sure that’s probably what Forest knows about them, too and the reason he can go out into the big city at all. Their wedding is now just one calendar flip away and after finally meeting them in person and getting Forest’s nod of approval, I am totally looking forward to sharing more time and space with these two awesome humans. Next time, with champagne!
