So much about Kelly & Paul’s wedding at Madison’s Overture Center for the Arts made our architect/artist/devotees-at-the-altar-of-love hearts sing. Everything about their venue was a metaphor for understanding Kelly and Paul as people. Their style choices instantly introducing us to their life aesthetic was lovely, but then there was all of the quiet confidence of two people who know each other almost as well as they know themselves. Put it all together and we have before us a wedding I would happily photograph every Friday from now until forever. Let me explain:
The venue is a huge light well, flooded with day light no matter the weather, its subtle travertine walls, slowly turning into delicately detailed & beautiful boundaries for some seriously good conversation and friendship. The romantic florals played off the modernism of the space, as the uber-talented florist (and cousin of the bride, no less) somehow found 80 shades of neutral to explore and play with for Kelly & Paul. The bridal party was purposefully small, the choice of which managed to keep their most beloved people close all day, but functionally encouraged everyone invited to put themselves in the party, so to speak. And that aforementioned altar-of-love gobbledygook? Well, for us, love that is based on companionable best friendship creates an altar anywhere it goes, including the third floor mezzanine of an arts center. So sit back, take a breath and go with us on a reverent meander through Kelly & Paul’s most lovely day.
