Kailey & Chris’ Door County wedding was all about memory – about reveling in shared ones and making new ones, about honoring memories and the people they attach us to regardless of their presence. It was about space & place and how where we choose to make our memories can speak volumes and shape lives. It was about family and claiming larger spots in their now collective one (you know, adding a permanent Plus One, and all…) They were married in a place where seemingly no one lives year round, Door County, except people do and those people include many members of Chris’ family. From the restaurant & ballroom reception venue owned by his parents to the Kayak Co. transport happily supplied by his brother, and even the family-owned AirBnB where folks got ready, the whole day was foregrounded by an “at home” vibe that was joyful and caring. A beloved grandmother was missing but her presence was ever felt, from Kailey’s bouquet locket to the bracelets she (and her mom & sister) wore. Their pup Berkley who is not a pup, but rather a furry reminder that time is fleeting and its best to wrap your people and your pets up in love now spent a few minutes with them at sunset and then moseyed back to a comfy spot to rest. But I suspect even those few minutes with Berkley will forever mark their wedding day memories. And then there was their bridal party, friends, siblings, a host of folks that Kailey & Chris couldn’t have gotten married without, because these are the people that shape them, that guide them, the people they choose for their family, too.
