Lisia & Louis | Sandals Emerald Bay Wedding Photography | Destination Wedding in Exuma, The Bahamas

Louis & Lisia live far away from the white sands and rocky coast of Exuma but in many ways their hearts are home in the Caribbean. They love to travel and The Bahamas was one of their significant first trips together but even before that something a little bit ancestral rings true about the place for Louis. His family is from Haiti and Lisia’s from Brazil, although these days home sweet home is Boston. That’s where they met in a grad school program when neither one of them was looking for a partner in life. They hesitated and started as friends but it was pretty obvious pretty soon that each had found a partner – a partner for travel, for hard work, for healing, for love and laughter and family. I’m extremely proud to have been invited into Louis & Lisia’s love story as their wedding photographer because these two do nothing lightly. Louis is intense and passionate and protective about Lisia and, I came to learn, about all of those that attended his wedding. He lost his parents as a child and an amazing group of people rose up to be his family such that now he has at least two moms, a big brother, aunts and uncles galore and all of them made it to his wedding, a wedding where he prioritized them in every way he could.

And Lisia is Louis’ heart.

She is the warmest woman I’ve ever met, so obviously caring and compassionate and protective of him and all the life-long friends in her life that even I could see the pride in her eyes as she surveyed the long tables of people who joined them on the beach for their wedding dinner. She was near to bursting with happy, grateful tears throughout the weekend and I loved her sweet wedding vows where she acknowledged the amazing lesson that Louis and Star Wars had taught her – the dark side may seem to be winning but in the end light and love and hope always prevails.
