Lauren & Michael have stories that start in other states but their story starts in Chicago, where they live, work, eat and play and play some more with their fur baby Jack, the dog-who-will-always-look-like-a-puppy. I met them there last fall for their engagement session – we sipped coffee and they snuggled up against the chill – but on their wedding day it was a different story. This time it was all summer, all sun and lots of green lakeside in Lake Geneva. Jack came along for most of the day and surrounded by shades of navy and jewel-tone greens, Michael & Lauren sealed their lives together. Everything about the day was lovely on the surface, but when I took a second look I realized how many finely elegant details there were to enjoy: from Lauren’s feathered neckline, to Michael’s cufflinks proclaiming all of me loves all of you, from the “naked” cake to ombre escort cards and back again to sweet chalkboard signs, the feeling was a little bit rustic and all together romantic. I loved how they deftly blended the UpNorth Wisconsin charm of the ski chalet at the Grand Geneva with all their elegant details, adding in drippy flowers in colors of coral, blush and ivory and topping it all off with a sense of humor. Considering all of the people that celebrated the day and night with them I’ve spent comparatively little time with Lauren & Michael, but that time has been intensely telling: Michael & Lauren were meant to find each other and now that they have, it’s true love, forever and always.
