Julie & Nate are so many adjectives rolled up into two personable packages. He’s artsy and hilarious, in a quiet-dry-humor kind of way and she’s adorably sweet and big hearted but the complete opposite of a push over. Not only are they lucky enough to have found one another but also lucky enough to be a part of a tight group of friends that is thrilled to see them tie the knot. I’ve photographed a few of their group (both Jordan & Melissa and Danny & Ava), and I’ve come to know them as a collection of diverse and talented people who manage to be entertaining, authentic, reliable and totally there for one another. I believe that who your friends are is who you are. The people we surround ourselves with define us, shape us, teach us and for Nate & Julie those people rock. And this Saturday (this Saturday!) they’ll gather on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan and toast Nate & Julie and all the good decisions they’ve made – from choosing each of their friends to choosing each other. On their wedding day everything will take place in the backyard of a beautiful house that in many ways is a second home to Julie so for their engagement session Emily suggested they meander a bit farther to explore the spaces and places of the city they love. They started at Big Bay and ended on Brady Street, managing to find gelato and tire swings along the way. I’ll add fun and unexpected to their list of adjectives.
