Baby Jack was brought home from the hospital during one of the nicest autumns in Wisconsin that pretty much anyone can remember. The day I photographed him we could have done the whole session outside and it would have felt right, except for the fact that the interior of baby Jack’s home has been lovingly and colorfully redesigned by his parents and there was too much context within those wall to miss out on. I loved the little delights for the eyes I spied here and there – homey signs acknowledging the spoiled rotten status of Jack’s big fur “sibling”, pumpkins and oodles of Halloween decor, modern prints and fabrics mixed with vintage furniture and fresh flowers. Jack’s daddy showed his handy work in the nursery, refinishing trim and hand painting a dresser that sits along side family made quilts and mama’s childhood Pound Puppy (remember those?) There is evidence of real life everywhere and it makes Jack’s home – and his world, really – feel warm and cozy at the same time it feels bright and airy and welcoming. I think that’s the best kind of world a baby could ever ask for.
