Carla & Danny’s engagement session was one of my favorites from last year so admittedly, my hopes were high for what I assumed would be their beautiful and fun wedding day. However, I was not prepared for the overwhelming joy and emotion that came along with the fulfillment of that hope – for the sentimental beauty that Carla wove into her details and the awes with which Danny looked at her all day. I didn’t adequately imagine what an important life step the wedding would be for Carla as it was not just her wedding day, but also a day where for all intents she fully embraced her conversion to Judaism. She’s a lawyer and I saw her listening, absorbing, really hearing the words of the kattubah as they were read by the rabbi and I saw Danny understand the ritual and wedding ceremony of his faith anew through her studied understanding of it. Such understanding is awesome to witness and ultimately, to photograph. Carla & Danny’s day was filled with laughter, sunshine and the sweet licks of their pup Chip; it was filled with cheers and toasts and riotous fun, but all that really mattered was that it was filled with Carla & Danny’s promises, love and commitment.
