Patrice & Max’s wedding day was filled with gorgeous style, joyful families, fantastic friends and best of all, two souls that simply thrive in each others’ company. Wisconsin is Patrice’s home state and while their lives are now deeply rooted in Chicago, Patrice and Max love their days spent on Milwaukee’s lakefront – and now they can add their wedding day to that bank of memories. I I have lived in Milwaukee for 15 years now, but days like theirs remind me what it is like to re-view the city a bit more like a visitor and to delight in all of its (surprising) awesomeness. It was as if everything in the city was just for them – the lake was a stunning blue for them, the pear trees still in bloom for them, the boat traffic on the river perfectly timed to show off the city and its charms for them. It was all just so…lovely. But undoubtedly my favorite part of the day was when the vows had been read and most of the bullet points one the schedule were checked off and they took a breath. Together in one of the long concourse wings, separate from the friends and the music and the happy hubbub, they danced and laughed and breathed together -I think finally letting it sink in that they had done the thing they had been dreaming of for years. And that feeling when you realize you are married to the love of your life? Incomparable.
