If I lived in Brooklyn I would make Drew and Sid hang out with me. Drew is a voracious reader – the kind of person who has at least two books dog-eared and going at the same time and who drinks boat loads of coffee from mugs with feminist sayings gifted to her by friends. She can talk about training for a marathon or what kind of Wisconsin cheese and beverages she likes; she’s an educator and passionate about her own education. She’s also madly in love with Sid. He’s in logistics and is all in for wedding planning, the kind of guy who has grown up all over the place and is therefore super malleable at the same time he knows what he likes. He likes maps and travel, his life in Brooklyn and most of all, Drew. Together they are fun and lively, easy to talk to and open about their lives, their ideas, the things they think a lot about. So on an early fall morning Drew and Sid let me hang out with them and led me to fall in love with them, too. We explored their Brooklyn and enjoyed the sunshine, walking their paths from Gowanus to Dumbo. And along with enjoying my time getting to know Drew and Sid, I was left marveling at how dynamic and complex Brooklyn is, how full of life and change and beauty its streets are. The city and love, my favorite combination.
